Overall System Requirements

SpringCharts EMR is an electronic medical records software suite based on the latest industry standard Java technology. Its all-in-one design makes installation simple. SpringCharts is available in two different system configurations: Single Computing, or Networking Options. The installation instructions vary slightly for the two configurations.

-SpringCharts requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in order to run on your computer.
-Before you can run SpringCharts, you must ensure that the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.2 or greater is installed. To check your Java Version, see our Java Help page.

Note: Macintosh OS X users may skip this step; Windows and Linux users need to install the JRE.

-SpringCharts runs on Windows (98, ME, 2000, XP), Macintosh OS X, and Linux platforms.
-At least 256 mb of memory on each computer running SpringCharts.
-A printer.
-To use the integrated Email functions, an Internet connection is required (cable modem, ISDN, DSL).
-Network access to a computer with a CD-ROM drive.

Version 6.5 Single Computer Version
When using SpringCharts Single Computer Version, only one computer is needed in your office. Since SpringCharts is an all Java system, it is hardware independent. SpringCharts can run on Windows (98, ME, 2000, XP), Mac OS X, or Linux operating system or a mixture of these systems. To run SpringCharts Single Computer Version, you need the following:

1. One computer. This computer must have a processor which runs at 400 mhz or higher. It must have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (a free download from Sun Microsystems-- see our Java Help page). Macintosh OS X already has the JRE included.

2. 400 mb of disk space. SpringCharts requires at least 400 mb of available disk space.

3. A 400 mhz processor. SpringCharts requires a 400 mhz, or faster, processor.

Version 6.5 Networking Options

When using SpringCharts Networking Options, one computer runs the server program and all other computers run the client program, sending data to, and receiving data from the server program running in your office. Since SpringCharts is an all Java system, it is hardware independent. SpringCharts can run on Windows (98, ME, 2000, XP), Mac OS X, or Linux operating system or a mixture of these systems. To run SpringCharts Networking Options, you need the following:

1. One computer to act as your server. This computer must have 400 mb of available disk space, and a 400 mhz, or faster, processor.

2. At least one computer for a client. The client computer(s) can be running any of the above operating systems. It must have 5.5 mb of available disk space, and a 300 mhz, or faster, processor.

3. A network. Running the Server and Client on the same computer is not recommended. A standard network is required. SpringCharts uses TCP/IP to communicate over your network, so standard Ethernet networks work well.
